Health and Safety Policy

Purpose. This policy states the commitment of Deepridge Resources to the health and safety of every worker, contractor and visitor at its mine, quarry, drilling and civil sites.

1.Commitment

Mining, quarrying, drilling and civil construction carry principal hazards that can kill: vehicle interaction, ground failure, explosives, fixed plant, electricity, working at heights and confined spaces. Deepridge will identify these hazards, control them to the standard the law requires and keep improving. No production target justifies an uncontrolled risk.

2.Scope

This policy applies to all employees, labour hire, contractors, visitors and clients at every Deepridge site and at client sites where Deepridge crews work. Contractors must comply with the Deepridge safety management system or an equivalent accepted in writing by the HSE and Training Manager.

3.Safety management system

Each site will operate a safety management system that includes a principal hazard management plan for every principal hazard, risk assessment procedures, permit to work and isolation, mobile plant prestart, fitness for work, training and authorisation, emergency response and incident management. The system will be audited annually and after any high potential incident.

4.Responsibilities

The General Manager Operations holds the site senior executive responsibility and will resource the system. Managers and supervisors must ensure work is planned, risk assessed and supervised, and that workers are trained and authorised. Every worker must follow procedures, use the controls, report hazards and stop work that is unsafe.

5.Stop work authority

Every person on a Deepridge site has the authority and the duty to stop any task they believe is unsafe. Work will not resume until the supervisor has reviewed the hazard and the controls. No person will be penalised for stopping work in good faith.

6.Consultation

Workers are consulted through crew prestart meetings, elected safety and health representatives, site safety committees and incident reviews. This policy will be reviewed annually and displayed at every site entry.
