Ramp 4 high potential incident, positive communication reminder
On 7 September a light vehicle entered the ramp 4 haul road without calling up and came within 20 metres of a loaded haul truck. Nobody was hurt because the truck operator stopped. Every light vehicle must call and receive acknowledgement before entering a haul road or approaching within 50 metres of heavy plant. The investigation is under way and findings will be shared at prestart.

North dump tension crack, dump closed
A tension crack has been found 3 metres behind the crest of the north dump. The dump is closed to all plant and people until the geotechnical inspection is complete. Dumping is diverted to the east dump. Do not remove the barricades. Report any further cracking, settlement or seepage to the shift supervisor immediately.

Shotfirer licence renewals and blast training
Several explosives licences and blast crew authorisations fall due in October and November. Check your entries in the Training and Authorisation Matrix and lodge your renewal with Ngaire at least six weeks before expiry. The blast crew refresher on the misfire procedure runs on 23 September at the open cut training room.

Quarterly emergency drill, Wattle Creek
The Wattle Creek quarterly emergency drill will be held on 30 September during day shift. The scenario will not be announced. All personnel must respond to the site alarm as if it were real: stop and park plant, proceed to your muster point and wait for the muster warden. The drill will be reviewed at prestart the next day.

Mine health scheme medicals due
Periodic health monitoring under the mine health scheme is due for open cut workers whose last medical was more than three years ago. Appointments are available at the site medical centre on roster days through October. Hearing, lung function and dust exposure checks are included. Book through your supervisor and bring your previous results if you have them.
